On Tuesday 3rd March there will be a Welcome Day for anyone interested in finding out what conservation work is going on at Dover Downlands or for anyone that wants to volunteer for the Trust.
The site, based near our Elysium Park development, is an area that Kent Wild Life Trust are hoping to restore to a chalk grassland habitat. Eighty percent of chalk grassland has already been lost. Dover, and the areas that surround it have approx. 5% of Britain’s chalk grassland. However, it is being threatened by alien species of trees and shrub and unless the area is restored, could be destroyed forever.
At the Welcome day, guests will help clear the scrub and will enjoy a bonfire and a free lunch. By restoring the area, they hope to encourage biodiversity. The project has already helped species such as the peregrine falcon, hobby and the glow worm.
As Pentland Homes are members of the Kent Wildlife Trust, we are able to support the projects that are going on in the area and encourage you to get involved too! We also offer everyone who purchases a property at our Bluebells development free annual memberships to the Trust.
To enquire about the Welcome Day, please contact Sue Morris 01622 662012 or email info@kentwildlife.org.uk
Our Bluebells Marketing Suite is open Thursday – Monday 10.00am – 5.00pm.
