Pentland Homes Hosts Lyminge School Time Capsule Event at The Fairways

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of welcoming pupils from Lyminge C of E Primary School to our Fairways development – a visit that marked the beginning of what we hope will be a meaningful and lasting relationship with the school.

As part of our wider commitment to supporting the communities in which we build, we’re proud to be working with the school this year. In August, members of the Pentland Homes team will be volunteering their time to help enhance the school’s outdoor learning area, creating a more engaging and inspiring space for pupils to learn and explore.

Ahead of this, we wanted to spend some time with the children on a project they could enjoy and feel part of – something that would leave a lasting legacy.

During their visit, the pupils helped us bury two time capsules within the development. Each capsule was filled with contributions from the children, offering a snapshot of their lives today — from what they’re learning in the classroom to their thoughts, drawings and interests. These capsules will remain buried for the next 50 years, to be reopened by a future generation and reflect on how much has changed.

It was a simple but meaningful activity, and one that the children embraced with real enthusiasm.

The visit also gave pupils the opportunity to explore one of our show homes, offering a glimpse into how new homes are designed and built. It’s always rewarding to see that curiosity first-hand and to give young people an insight into the world of housebuilding.

To round off the day, the children left with plenty of smiles and a small selection of goodie bags as a thank you for being part of such a memorable experience.

At Pentland Homes, we believe that building homes is about more than bricks and mortar – it’s about creating places where communities can grow and thrive. Spending time with the pupils of Lyminge C of E Primary School was a great reminder of that, and we’re looking forward to continuing our work together in the months ahead.
