Women In Construction Week 2025
This week is Women in Construction Week, and at Pentland Homes, we are proud to celebrate all the women who work here and in the wider industry. This year’s theme for Women in Construction Week is “Together We Rise”, which celebrates the strength and knowledge of women and the vital role they play in shaping the future of the construction industry. You can find out more about WICW and this year’s theme on the official website.
What is Women In Construction Week?
Women in Construction Week is a time to celebrate the role that women play in the construction industry. At Pentland Homes, we have women in careers ranging from Customer Care and Sales to Technical Specialists, Account Management, and more. The responsibilities these women hold play a vital role in the workings of our business, and it’s fantastic to see them setting an example for future generations of women looking to pursue a career in construction.
Why is it important to celebrate Women in Construction?
Women in Construction Week has been celebrated since 1998, and it’s important that we continue to recognize it because construction is typically a male-dominated industry.
According to recent data, women now make up around 15% of the UK construction workforce, with an increasing presence in professional and technical roles. However, challenges such as gender stereotypes, fewer leadership opportunities, and the need for greater workplace support still exist.
Highlighting the role women play in construction promotes inclusion, raises awareness of the challenges they may face, and encourages employers to support a more diverse workforce—helping to make the industry more inclusive overall.
Paul Kitchingman – Managing Director of Pentland Homes has shared:
“This week is Women in Construction Week, and we are celebrating the incredible women who help shape Pentland Homes and the wider industry. From sales, technical specialists, customer care, accounts management and more, their expertise and dedication play a vital role in delivering the homes we are proud to build.
Construction has come a long way, but there’s still work to do in breaking down barriers and encouraging more women to pursue careers in our industry. At Pentland Homes, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where talent and hard work drives success, regardless of gender.
To all the women in construction—thank you for your contributions, and the path you’re paving for future generations.”
